Emby for Android brings a personal media server to your phone or tablet. It connects to Emby Server so you can browse your own videos, music and photos in one organised library. Artwork, descriptive information and related items help you choose what to play without searching through folders manually. The app is designed for a collection you manage yourself; it does not include a subscription catalogue of films or television channels.
A mobile view of your home library
Start by installing the free Emby Server on a suitable computer or server and adding your media. The Android client then provides access to that collection. Server-side conversion can adapt media for playback on different devices, although the result still depends on your server resources, connection and files. This makes Emby useful when you want to keep the main library in one place and access it from several screens.
